Buttery Stone-Ground Grits


  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus more for seasoning
  • 1 cup stone-ground or old-fashioned grits
  • Pepper
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cubed
  • ¾ cup heavy cream, divided
