Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups butter, softened
  • Rum Syrup
  • ½ cup dark rum

    • ¼ cup banana liqueur
    • 1/8 teaspoon salt
    • ½ teaspoon baking soda
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 2 tablespoons grated lemon rind
    • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder

Beat butter at medium speed with an electric mixer until fluffy; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs and egg yolk, one at a time, beating until blended after each addition.
