Cavatappi with Vodka Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2/3 cup finely chopped onion
  • ½ cup 2% reduced-fat milk
  • ¾ cup half-and-half
  • 8 ounces uncooked cavatappi pasta (about 3 cups)
  • 1/3 cup vodka
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground red pepper
  • 1 garlic clove, minced

    • 4 teaspoons all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce
    • 2 tablespoons finely chopped basil
    • ½ cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
