Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons cornmeal
  • ¼ pound (about 1 cup packed) shredded extra-sharp cheddar cheese
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 30 sliced almonds
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 large egg

1. In a food processor or bowl, whirl or rub together butter, cheese, flour, and cornmeal until the mixture has the texture of wet sand.
