  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 6 large egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup cherry preserves
  • ¼ cup cherry-flavored brandy or brandy
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 1 vanilla bean
    • 2 cups half and half
    • 4 cups fresh cherries

Combine cherries and sugar in heavy large saucepan; toss to coat. Let stand until juices form, about 2 hours.
