Chili Sauce with Apples

Ingredients

  • 1 cup(s) celery, chopped ¼ inch
  • 1 tablespoon(s) salt
  • 1 cup(s) chopped onion, ¼ inch
  • 2 red bell peppers, chopped ¼ inch
  • 2 cup(s) tart apples, (Granny Smith, gala), chopped ¼ inch
  • 6 ounce(s) apple cider vinegar
  • 6 ounce(s) water
  • + 6 more ingredients
    • 3 cup(s) sugar
    • 2 hot peppers, optional
    • 2 quart(s) tomatoes, skinned (8 cups or 25 large plum tomatoes), seeded and diced ¼ inch
    • 2 green bell peppers, chopped ¼ inch
    • 2 teaspoon(s) celery seed
    • 12 whole cloves

Place all ingredients into a large saucepan and stir. Bring to a boil and cook about 1-1/2 to 3 hours, until thickened. Makes 5 pints.
