  • 1⁄4 tsp. salt
  • 3⁄4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • 2⁄3 cup buttermilk
  • 3⁄4 tsp. baking soda
  • 1⁄2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar

    • 6 Tbs. unsweetened Dutch process cocoa powder, sifted
    • 6 Tbs. (3⁄4 stick) unsalted butter, softened
