Ingredients

  • 10 oz. best-quality bittersweet chocolate, chopped (I like Lindt)
  • 2 Tbs. granulated sugar
  • 2 cups cold heavy cream; plus another ½ cup for garnish
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup strong brewed coffee
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • Pinch kosher salt
  • + 1 more ingredients
    • 3 Tbs. dark chocolate shavings for garnish (optional)

Put the chocolate and coffee in a heavy saucepan. Heat gently over low heat until the chocolate starts to melt; set aside.
