Ingredients

  • ¾ cup Dutch-processed unsweetened cocoa
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 ¼ cups canned pumpkin
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 6 large eggs
    • 3 cups sugar
    • ½ cup chopped roasted, unsalted peanuts (optional)
    • Chocolate glaze (recipe follows)
    • 2/3 cup buttermilk
    • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
    • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
    • 1 ½ cups (3/4 lb.) butter, at room temperature
