  • 3 whole cinnamon sticks, each about 4 inches long
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 4 large egg yolks
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • Pinch table salt

In a small saucepan, combine the milk, 1/4 cup of the sugar, and the cinnamon sticks. Set over medium-low heat and stir occasionally until almost boiling.
