Ingredients

  • 1 bunch scallions (5 or 6)
  • 3 slices bacon
  • 2 pounds small hard-shelled clams
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 cups corn
  • 1 pound boiling potatoes
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 2 8-ounce bottles clam juice
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • ½ cup water

Cook bacon in a 4- to 5-quart heavy pot over medium heat, stirring, until slightly browned but not crisp.
