Ingredients

  • 4 oz. (½ cup) unsalted butter, completely softened at room temperature
  • ¼ tsp. ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp. packed finely grated orange zest
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 6-¾ oz. (1-½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1/8 tsp. table salt
  • 1-½ tsp. ground cloves
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 1 large egg
    • ¼ tsp. ground cinnamon

In a bowl, sift together the flour, cloves, cinnamon, pepper, and salt. In an electric mixer, cream the butter (use the paddle attachment) at medium speed until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
