Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 pound dried currants
  • 1 pound raisins
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 4 large eggs
  • 58 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups light brown sugar
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • 1 cup strong coffee
    • 1 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
    • 2 9- by 5- by 3-inch loaf pans
    • 16 tablespoons unsalted butter
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1 cup molasses (not robust or blackstrap)
