Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups flour
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup plus 1/4 cup butter
  • ½ cup cornmeal
  • 4 ounces dried porcini mushrooms
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 8 large eggs
  • + 8 more ingredients
    • 10 ounce gorgonzola dolce cheese
    • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
    • 3 cloves garlic, minced
    • 4 fresh sage leaves, minced
    • 2 leeks, halved lengthwise, rinsed well, white and light green parts thinly sliced
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 5 ¼ cups milk
    • 12 ounces baguette or similar French bread, cut into 1/2-in. cubes

1. Preheat oven to 350°. Butter two 9- by 13-in. baking dishes. Set aside. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt 1/3 cup butter. Set aside and cool slightly. 2. In a large bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, sugar, baking powder, and 1/2 tsp. salt. Stir in 1 1/4 cups milk, 2 eggs, and melted butter....
