Cornmeal Cake with Black Cherry Compote

• ¾ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel
• ¼ cup honey
• 2 cups fresh goat's milk or whole milk
• ½ vanilla bean
• Yellow cornmeal
