Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon whiskey (preferably Irish)
  • ¾ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 10 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons confectioners sugar
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • 1 cup light brown sugar
    • 2 large eggs
    • 2 cups cake flour (not self-rising)
    • 1 pound fresh rhubarb stalks or 3 cups frozen rhubarb
    • 8 tablespoons unsalted butter

Put oven rack in middle position and preheat oven to 400°F. Butter a 10-inch glass or ceramic pie plate or a 2 1/2-quart oval gratin dish and chill.
