  • 1 cup whole almonds, with skins
  • 1 cup dates
  • 1 cup walnut halves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ pound unsalted butter
  • 1 cup dried currants
  • 8 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 1/3 cup honey
    • ¾ cup dried strawberries or dried sour cherries
    • 1 ¼ cups salted, roasted green pumpkin seeds

Preheat oven to 375°F. Line 2 large shallow baking sheets with foil. Place walnuts and almonds on one sheet and toast until golden brown, about 10 minutes. Let cool, then coarsely chop and set aside.
