Fava Beans with Pesto and Cavatappi

  • 3 tablespoons extravirgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh mint
  • ½ cup grape tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cup (2 ounces) grated fresh Parmesan cheese
  • 2 pounds unshelled fava beans (about 3 cups shelled)
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt

    • 1 cup fresh basil leaves (about 1 ounce)
    • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
    • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • 1 pound uncooked cavatappi pasta
