Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • ¾ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup dried figs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ½ cup chopped pecans
    • ½ cup shortening
    • 1 egg
    • ½ cup molasses

Combine figs and enough warm water to cover in a small mixing bowl; let stand 30 minutes. Drain well, and chop figs. Set aside.
