Fresh Yeast Bread


  • 2 (0.6 ounce) cakes compressed fresh yeast
  • 1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
  • 4 cups hot water
  • ¾ cup white sugar
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 15 cups bread flour

1. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water. Let stand 10 minutes. 2. In a very large bowl, combine hot water, white sugar, salt and shortening.
