    • 1 teaspoon(s) cloves
    • 1 ½ teaspoon(s) baking soda
    • 2 ½ cup(s) Flour

Sift flour, measure, sift again with soda and spices. Melt shortening, combine with sugar and egg, beat well. Combine molasses and hot water. Add alternately with sifted dry ingredients. beat after each addition, pour batter in greased pan. Bake at 350 degrees-45 min. Serve with whipped cream.
