Ingredients

  • 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 ¾ cups all-purpose flour, plus more for the work surface
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • ½ cup molasses
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons ground ginger
