Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • Dash of salt
  • 10 large egg whites (at room temperature)
  • 1 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • Seasonal berries (optional)
    • 1 1/3 cups superfine sugar, divided

Preheat oven to 350°. Sift together 1/3 cup sugar and flour; set flour mixture aside. Beat egg whites at medium speed of a mixer in a large bowl until foamy.
