Glazed Maple-Pecan Cookies

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • Hot water as needed for thinning
  • ¾ cup sifted confectioners’ sugar
  • 11-¼ oz. (2-½ cups) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 1 large egg, at room temperature
  • ¼ tsp. baking soda
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • ½ tsp. table salt
    • ¼ cup pure maple syrup, warmed
    • 6 oz. (¾ cup) unsalted butter, slightly softened
    • 1-½ tsp. maple flavoring (available in supermarkets)
    • ¼ cup very firmly packed, very fresh dark brown sugar
    • 8 oz. (2 cups) toasted pecans, coarsely chopped
    • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract

Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda. In a food processor, pulse the granulated and brown sugars to blend and then add the maple flavoring.
