Gouda Grits


  • 1 ½ c whole milk
  • ¾ t kosher salt, plus more to taste
  • 1 ½ c coarse or stone-groung grits, rinsed
  • ½ c heavy cream
  • 6 oz country ham, finely diced
  • 6 oz Thomasville Tomme cheese or Georgia Gouda, rind removed and cut into 1/4-inch cubes
  • 6 c canola or peanut oil, for frying
  • + 1 more ingredients
    • 1/3 c all-purpose flour, for frying
