Grandma Emma's Spice Loaf

Ingredients

• ½ cup chopped walnuts
• ½ teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon baking soda
• 2 cups all-purpose flour
• ½ teaspoon ground ginger
• ½ teaspoon ground cloves
• ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons molasses
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • ½ cup shortening
  • ½ cup raisins
  • 1 cup hot, brewed coffee

1. Soak raisins in coffee until plump. Do not drain. 2. Cream together the shortening, sugar and eggs. Blend in molasses and vanilla. 3.
