  • 2 whole star anise
  • 2 ½ cups fresh red or pink grapefruit juice
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup water

Bring water, sugar, and star anise to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Discard star anise and cool syrup. Stir syrup into juice.
