Grilled Peaches with Amaretto-Pecan Caramel Sauce

- 6 firm ripe peaches, halved and pitted (about 3 pounds)
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans, toasted
- 1 teaspoon chilled butter
- 2 tablespoons amaretto (almond-flavored liqueur)
- ½ cup apple cider
- 1/3 cup water
