Grilled Pita Wedges With Caramelized Onions

- Dash of freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ cup (1 ounce) shredded Asiago cheese
- 2 (6-inch) pitas
- 2 teaspoons olive oil
- ½ teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
- 1 teaspoon sugar
