Homemade Soda Bread


  • 500g (1lb) plain flour, plus extra for sprinkling
  • 1tsp salt
  • 1tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 30g butter, chilled and chopped
  • 400ml (12½fl oz) buttermilk (or milk soured with a squeeze of lemonjuice), plus extra if needed
