Ingredients

  • 1 5-ounce can evaporated milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons light corn syrup
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate

Finely chop chocolate. In a small heavy saucepan heat evaporated milk and sugar over moderate heat, stirring, until sugar is dissolved.
