How to Cook Chickpeas


  • ½ teaspoon whole black peppercorns (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 large celery stalk, cut into 3 pieces
  • ½ cup chopped onion
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (optional)
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 pound dried chickpeas (garbanzo beans)

Place chickpeas in a large bowl and pick out and discard any stones or debris. Cover beans with water and discard any beans that float. Rinse beans well and place in a large pot.
