Kabocha Squash Cake with Brown Sugar Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • Nonstick vegetable oil spray
  • 3 large egg whites
  • ½ teaspoon unflavored gelatin
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon baking soda
  • + 10 more ingredients
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • ¼ cup lager (mild-flavored beer)
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 1/3 cup golden brown sugar
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • 1 vanilla bean
    • 6 tablespoons olive oil
    • 2 cups kabocha squash
    • 2/3 cup golden brown sugar
    • ¾ cup all purpose flour

Place 1 tablespoon water in cup. Sprinkle gelatin over. Let stand 10 minutes to soften. Stir cream and sugar in medium saucepan over medium heat until sugar dissolves.
