Ingredients

  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 egg
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup whole milk
  • + 7 more ingredients
    • 1 tablespoon grated orange peel
    • 5 cups fresh cherries or frozen sweet dark cherries
    • ¼ teaspoon almond extract
    • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
    • 11/12 cup sugar
    • 2 cups all purpose flour
    • 1 cup solid vegetable shortening

Whisk milk and vinegar in small bowl to blend. Whisk flour and salt in medium bowl to blend; add shortening and rub in with fingertips until mixture resembles coarse meal.
