  • ¾ cup vodka
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Salt
  • 4 medium garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 2 medium shallots, finely chopped
  • 8 to 10 ounces good-quality Mexican chorizo, casing removed

    • 2 tablespoons olive oil
    • 1 pound linguine
    • 3 dozen manila or littleneck clams (about 1 ½ pounds)
