  • 1 30-oz can Alphonso mango slices in syrup
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 ¼ teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 1 ½ tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 cup heavy cream

Sprinkle gelatin over 3 tablespoons milk in a small bowl and let soften while making custard. Bring remaining milk just to a boil in a small heavy saucepan, then remove from heat.
