Maple-Bacon Crunch Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3 strips smoked bacon, preferably Nueske's brand
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter, plus more for the baking sheet
  • 1/8 teaspoon chipotle chile powder or a pinch of cayenne pepper
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup maple syrup, preferably grade B
  • + 4 more ingredients
    • 1 cup whole milk
    • Pinch of salt
    • ¼ cup sugar
    • 3 large egg yolks
