Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated lemon peel
  • 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
  • Whipped nondairy topping

    • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
    • 4 teaspoons instant espresso powder
    • ¼ teaspoon salt
    • 1/3 cup matzo meal
    • 1 cup water
    • ½ cup pure maple syrup
    • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
    • 2 cups walnuts

Bring all ingredients to boil in heavy medium saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Boil until syrup thickens slightly and is reduced to 1 generous cup, about 5 minutes.
