  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ tsp. table salt
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 Tbs. unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 oz. semisweet chocolate (preferably high quality), melted and cooled slightly
  • 6-¾ oz. (1-½ cups) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 4 oz. (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
    • ½ tsp. baking powder

In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. With an electric mixer, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
