Marinara

Ingredients

  • 2 can(s) Contadina Italian crushed tomato inch paste (28 ounce cans)
  • ½ tablespoon(s) baking soda
  • 1/8 tablespoon(s) cayenne pepper
  • 1 stick(s) butter
  • 1 carrot, shredded (large)
  • 1 onion, minced (medium)
  • ½ cup(s) extra virgin olive oil
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • 1 tablespoon(s) crushed red pepper seeds
    • 6 clove(s) garlic, minced
    • 2 tablespoon(s) basil
    • ½ teaspoon(s) dried oregano
    • Salt and Pepper to taste

In a large heavy sauce pan heat olive oil and butter. Add garlic, onion and carrot. Saut until carrots are soft. Add remaining ingredients. Throw the cayenne pepper and stir. Bring to boil, reduce heat immediately. Simmer 20 minutes. Add Salt & Pepper then add baking soda & stir well.
