Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ tablespoons vegetable oil
  • ¼ teaspoon dried hot red pepper flakes
  • 5 tablespoons chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley
  • 1 medium onion, coarsely grated
  • 1 ½ lb meatloaf/meatball mix (mixed ground beef, pork, and veal)
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup fine fresh bread crumbs

    • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
    • 1 teaspoon dried oregano, crumbled
    • 2 garlic cloves, chopped
    • 1 (28- to 32-oz) can whole plum tomatoes
