Mexican Black-Bean Chili

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ ounces semisweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and chopped
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano

    • 1 cup (1/2-inch) pieces red bell pepper
    • 1 cup (1/2-inch) pieces green bell pepper
    • 2 teaspoons cumin seeds
    • 1 pound dried black beans
    • 1 cup minced fresh cilantro
    • 1 (15-ounce) can Italian-style tomatoes, undrained and chopped
    • 1 cup (1/2-inch) pieces yellow bell pepper
    • 1 to 2 teaspoons hot sauce
