Mexican Sweet Tamales
Ingredients
- 1 cup toasted pine nuts
- 1 ½ cups packed light brown sugar
- 3 sticks (12 ounces) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 3 ¾ cups water, at room temperature
- 1 ½ teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 ½ teaspoons anise seeds
- 1 ¾ teaspoons baking powder

- 4 ½ cups masa harina, such as Maseca
- 1 ½ cups golden raisins, also known as sultanas
- 35 corn husks
