Ingredients

  • ¼ teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1 tablespoon grated orange zest
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ cup confectioners' sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 eggs

    • 12 (12- by 17-inch) sheets phyllo dough
    • ¾ cup unsalted butter
    • ¾ cup unsalted butter
    • ¾ cup confectioners' sugar
    • 1 tablespoon orange-flower water
    • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
    • ¼ cup sliced almonds
    • 2 eggs
    • 1 tablespoon water
    • 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Combine the almonds, confectioners' sugar, cinnamon, and cardamom in a food processor or blender and pulse to grind into a coarse meal. Add the butter and egg yolks and pulse until blended.
