Mocha Custards with Buttermilk Doughnuts


  • 3 tablespoons Kahlúa
  • 5 large egg yolks
  • ¼ cup coffee beans
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ vanilla bean
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • ¾ cup semisweet chocolate chips

Combine cream, milk, and ground coffee beans in heavy medium saucepan. Scrape seeds from vanilla bean into mixture; add bean. Bring mixture to simmer. Remove from heat; let steep 1 hour.
