  • Granulated sugar for rolling
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 2 tsp. baking soda
  • 4 oz. (½ cup) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 Tbs. vegetable oil
  • + 5 more ingredients
    • 1-¼ tsp. ground ginger
    • 9 oz. (2 cups) all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
    • ½ tsp. table salt
    • ½ tsp. ground cloves

In a medium bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, ginger, cinnamon, cloves, and salt. With an electric mixer, beat the butter and brown sugar until light in color and texture.
