Molasses Walnut Squares


  • 2 tablespoon(s) butter or fortified margarine
  • 1/3 cup(s) sugar
  • ½ cup(s) walnut meats
  • few grains salt
  • 1 cup(s) molasses

Melt the butter in a saucepan. Add the molasses and sugar. Stir until boiling starts and again as mixture begins to get thick. Boil to 250° or until a drop in cold water forms a hard ball. Add walnut meats sprinkled lightly with salt. Pour into buttered pan, cool slightly, mark in small squares.
