Ingredients

  • ½ cup crème fraîche
  • 4 pounds mussels (preferably cultivated)
  • 2 pounds plum tomatoes
  • ½ cup fresh basil
  • 2 large garlic cloves
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • + 3 more ingredients
    • 15 1/3-inch-thick slices from a baguette
    • 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
    • ½ cup finely grated Parmigiano-Reggiano
