Mussels with Tomatoes, Wine, and Anise

Ingredients

  • ½ cup canned tomato sauce
  • 4 anchovy fillets
  • 3 garlic cloves
  • 4 tablespoons fresh Italian parsley
  • ¼ cup dry white wine
  • 2 pounds mussels
  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • + 2 more ingredients
    • 1 ½ cups onion
    • 6 tablespoons anise-flavored liqueur (such as Pernod, pastis, or ouzo)

Heat 2 tablespoons oil in heavy large pot over medium-high heat. Add onion and sauté until tender, about 4 minutes.
