  • 4 cups sugar
  • 2 cups walnut, pecan, macadamia, or other nuts
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 12 ounces bittersweet or semisweet chocolate
  • 2 5-oz cans evaporated milk
  • 20 large marshmallows
  • 10 tablespoons unsalted butter

Combine the chocolate pieces, nuts (if using), butter, and vanilla in a large heatproof bowl. Set aside.
